Landscape is nowhere - Fernando Pessoa

Taking a lead from the hauntingly ambiguous SJD song Two Bodies, I set out in search of nowhere. The result is a series of almost nowheres, full of the promise and menace of the ordinary New Zealand road at night. We are on some kind of journey, certainly, but to where, and when exactly? The narrative is unknown, ill-advised, or half-remembered, the road to nowhere. These are noir-scapes, atmospheres. Uncertain evidence not of place and time but of anxieties and longings. Records perhaps of ordinary disaster or everyday redemption.

This work is a continuation of my interest in testing the limits of documentation, searching the emotional edges of the medium, and hoping, along the road, to find something fresh, something beautiful.
