Greer Twiss Survey 1963 - 2002 / 14 July - 5 August 2010
John Leech Gallery is excited to present Greer Twiss Survey 1963 - 2002 an exhibition of sculpture by Auckland-based artist Greer Twiss.
All the pieces exhibited are from the artist’s personal studio collection and are singular examples of a series of ideas or works he has previously created and still feels connected to. Twiss particularly enjoys A Work in Three Movements and has a strong connection to Degas Passed This Way as it is based on his granddaughter.
Some of the smaller bronze works are from editions created in the 1960s that the artist has been able to recast from old plaster or new silicone moulds. However the term edition is used loosely here because, as Twiss explains, “My editions are not identical as there is still a lot of finishing work to be done after the bronzes are cast and I believe in the serendipitous changes that occur.”
The 17 works in this exhibition trace the career of this iconic New Zealand artist from the early 1960s through to the twenty-first century. For more information on this exhibition and details of the works to be shown please contact the gallery.
